Become an EMT

Requirements to Become an EMT in Connecticut. Take Our Class!
To become a certified EMT in Connecticut, you must have successfully completed a Connecticut-approved EMT class (including written and practical exams), pass the cognitive exam from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), and completed BLS (CPR and AED) Training.  EMT classes in Connecticut are structured to achieve all of these requirements.

Learn about Our EMT Class

NCEMS hosts an annual EMT class that begins in January and ends in May.  The class meets twice a week, historically on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10pm, and several Saturdays from 9-4pm.  In addition to class time, NCEMS will arrange for students to gain 24-hours of ride-along observation time in a Norwalk Hospital ambulance.  The cost of the class is approximately $1,400 (includes Textbook, Online MyLab Course Access, Blood Pressure Cuff, Stethoscope, Pocket Mask for CPR, and CPR Certification).  We offer spots on a first come, first serve basis and encourage all interested applicants to submit their application no later than December.  For additional information and to register for the class: Contact NCEMS at emtclass@newcanaanems.org.

Other EMT Classes

If our class cannot suit your needs or schedule, there are other EMT classes offered throughout Connecticut over the course of the year.
